2018-01-14 10:32

On January 14, 2018 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who was paying an official visit to Angola, met the press together with Minister of External Relations Manuel Domingos Augusto of Angola after their talks in Luanda.

Wang Yi expressed that it is quite a pleasure to visit Angola on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of China-Angola diplomatic relationship. Angola is China's strategic cooperative partner in Africa and both sides enjoy profound traditional friendship. Since the establishment of diplomatic relationship 35 years ago, the two countries have always enjoyed sincerity and friendship, equal treatment, and mutual support. The mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides has long been at the forefront of China-Africa cooperation. At present, China has become Angola's largest trading partner, largest oil export market and the biggest source of financing. China-Angola strategic partnership is a model and microcosm of China-Africa win-win cooperation and common development.

I paid a courtesy call on President Joao Lourenco after I got off the plane last night, and held in-depth talks with Minister of External Relations Manuel Domingos Augusto just now. Both sides shared the view that, on this occasion of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of China-Angola diplomatic relationship, bilateral relations are faced with the need to inherit the past and usher the future. Bilateral cooperation needs transformation and upgrading, as well as improvement in quality and efficiency. Both sides agreed to further deepen political mutual trust, continue firmly supporting each other on issues concerning respective core interests, further make innovation in cooperation thoughts, and expand new cooperation fields along the way of mutual benefit and win-win results, in a bid to let China-Angola cooperation better benefit the two countries and their peoples.

Wang Yi expressed that as a trustworthy old and good friend of Angola, China will firmly support Angola in exploring a development path suitable to its national conditions, support Angola in advancing the strategy of economic diversification and industrialization, support Angola in building up its capacity for independent development, and support Angola in playing a more active role in the cause of peace and development in Africa.
